Below is our listing of our current open volunteer positions. The DC Chapter of Architecture for Humanity is entirely volunteer based and it would not be possible to offer any compensation at this time. We operate by working together to make a difference to the communities we serve. We hope through growth and success, we will be able to offer more in the future.
While the name "Architecture for Humanity" lends itself to be primarily architects and designers, we encourage expanding the diversity of our skills beyond the realm of design to strengthen our capabilities as an organization. We are open to all backgrounds and experiences that you have to offer. Current Specific Open Volunteer Opportunities
PROJECT / ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERS
Do you have ideas that: 1) are compliant with our mission 2) can make an impact on the communities we serve and 3) you would like to implement? Have you expressed natural leadership skills in past? Would you like to share your skills to build a stronger organization through guiding our volunteers?
We are in a need of highly self-motivated leaders to be able to manage the pool of resources and talented members that the Chapter currently has to offer. It would be expected that you have the ability and experience to lead a team of motivated individuals through balancing assertiveness, organization and communication. Concurrently and importantly, you would be able to set up goals, creatively develop strategies to implemented and achieve the goals established for the committee or project that you are leading.
It can be expected that you spend 6 - 8 hours per week where 2 - 3 hours would be meeting with the team (varies and dependant on the project / committee you take on). Depending on your interests and expectations, we would look to match you up with a project or committee that has already been in development or to start up a new initiative to make it happen.

COMMUNICATIONS/GRAPHIC COORDINATOR
Do you have an interest in graphic communication? Do you feel your portfolio can be an asset in communicating to the members, partner organizations and networks the Chapter has established to date. Do you have an interest in expanding your portfolio and experience to an organization that relies on effective communication to make a major impact on the communities it serves through advocacy and implementation? Do you have ideas on how to harness the possibilities of social networks?
We are in search of graphic savvy individuals who are interested in developing communication graphics for our events, projects and various other activities. Our organization has grown considerably over the past 5 years and we realize we need to improve our communication at all levels via creative means. The individual will have the opportunity to primarily work remotely but may need to meet occasionally to coordinate as necessary. The estimated contribution time can average about to about 6 hours a month. In this position, there will be scope for the applicant to use his/ her creativity primarily under digital/print publications but can also be within website development.
