Architecture for Humanity DC chapter: Let's agree on a location where we can meet up after work for Happy Hour and get to know each other. Any suggestions? Dupont Circle area?

This will be a small one hour event held at the Ashoka foundation in Washington DC. This will be our only event in Washington DC and the focus of the talk will be on the Open Architecture Network. There are only a few spots for this event so please email cameron@architectureforhumanity.org to get on the list or if you'd like to meet up in the evening.

Bringing Buildings Back
Alan Mallach, research director at the National Housing Institute, argues for sustainable reuse and revitalization of cities and neighborhoods at all scales from restoring and reusing individual structures to making whole cities stronger and healthier. Mallach will show how a number of cities, community development corporations, and others have come up with creative and effective solutions to this challenge. National Building Museum, free

A non-profit organization which develops programs for volunteers to participate in Africa. The projects are usually every summer and seems like a great way to become involved overseas. Below is a link to check out:

An article forwarded to me on another version of pre-fabricated homes. University of Kansas students are involved with the project/manufacturing company. In the article they mentioned a home was built for one of the AfH chapters also.
