Discussion:
*> Steve presented concern of insurance that we won't run into any legal troubles with
the construction of the project. Currently, the site/school is
"maintained" by the government by there are plans that the church would take it
back over. AfH should bring up the issue with Amanda/Dr Uzoma again to
clarify.
> Tim presented printouts of enviroloo, a non-discharge dry sanitation system. We should
take a closer look at its application with the Umueze project. http://www.eloo.us/
> Michelle presented her sketchup model of the facade treatments. Model was very
helpful in visualizing the effect. We talked about having seating or
planters as part of the wall where the classroom are inset along the soccer
field facade. It was mentioned he liked breaking up the horizontal
configuaration of the open bands.
> We talked that it may not be necessary to have a continuous solid wall at the height where a
child in sitting position would occur.
> Joe mentioned a compiled version of the Sketchup file has been placed on the ftp site. (currently \Umueze\CAD\Umueze\Umueze-Master_080212.skp and the file name will be
updated with the latest date over time). The file at the time includes
updated roof conditions and the courtyard side facades
treatments.
> Billy updated the master site plan in CAD to have 20' clear between the dividing walls. Its currently 600sf per classroom, inside of the surrounding walls and
cubbies.
> We talked about desks. Desks seem like an item that can be most effectively used for donating and shipping over. This brought up the issue of locking
up.
> We agreed the classrooms would need to be locked up. The desks/chairs can be stored
within and students wouldn't have to bring them from their homes. We would
have to look further on the locking of classrooms. Address the door (solid
vs iron gate/similar) and cubbies.
> In closing we talked of meeting on Saturday at 2pm to get a productive work session
going. We would meet at RTKL office.
*> This Tuesday (02.19) there is a scheduled peer review. AfH needs to confirm the date
and ensure there would be reviews able to attend.
