DnS Meeting Minutes 02.12.08

Just a little update on what we talked about yesterday:

Donate n Shop 02.12.08 Meeting Minutes

Attendees:
Elise Goede [nccf]
Jason Davis [nccf]
Joe Fuentes [afh]
Michelle Bove [afh]

> 2x Washer/2x Dryer would be needed within Volunteer space. Possibly can be stacked
> HVAC units are located along the south wall, current plan has a main desk located there. We can possibly can move the HVAC units. Another unit located at the opposite hand side.
> According to Mechanical plans brought in by Jason, the ceiling should be relatively clear in the retail space. A duct crosses over near the elevator shaft.
> Second space [called Storage #131 from existing plans) possibly can be used to either extend retail space or for additional more secure storage.
More possibly the later.
> Like the implementation of speakers to provide some background noise to
volunteers and clients
> Elise mentioned the inclusion of cubbies for volunteers to drop off their
personals and so it doesn't accidently mix with the donations.
*> OPUS grant was for 50K. There's an line item list of how the money
could be distributed. Jason will look more throughly to see if the grant
is strict how the project utilize the money. Hopefully its flexible.
> The line item list includes computers. Elise was envisioning a more of a
"distribution center" setup. Using technology such as databases to
category and keep track of inventory. Possibly a computer in the main desk
area and one in the volunteer area.
*> New additional will include a gymnasium. It will block out one of the
garage doors. Jason will look into how exactly the floor plan works to see
if the second storage space can be used for this project.
> The new additional is planned to start late spring/summer and go for
about 12 months. It may make sense for construction for the DnS project to
start outside (likely after) this time period.
> Elise mentioned about storage bins. We should implement them as a
storage type along with racks and shelving.
> Donation items that were mentioned: infant supplies, cookware, linens,
clothing, toys
> Michelle mentioned construction for retail typically 18-20 weeks which
includes the kitchen (we don't have to worry about the kitchen part)
> Overall, they seemed to like what we have been thinking and are excited
about it. We discussed some plan changes but it depends on the follow ups
from Jason of some information we need. They mentioned that originally
they weren't thinking it would be treatin like we have designed it (rather
placing some tables and a couple of racks) so we went to another level :)
They hope that the design to stir up some more interest.

That's what I have in notes for now. Feel free to add or ask any
questions.
